Homework for Wednesday Sep 8

Read the first article of the semester, Daniel Wideman's "Free Papers." Come to class prepared to discuss the issues discussed in the article, for example, consider the following ideas:

Argument: WHAT is the thesis of the piece? Where does it appear in the article?

Audience: WHO is the intended audience of the article? How can you tell?

Method: HOW does the author prove their thesis? What rhetorical methods and strategies does the author employ to affect/convince the reader?

Objective: WHY did the author write the piece? What is the goal or objective of the article? what are they trying to do?

Assumptions:  WHERE is the author "coming from"? What are the assumptions in the article?

Of course, in order to analyze a piece of writing you must understand all the words that are found within, s consult or contribute the CSP19 Vocabulary corpus.

Other homework assignment: accept the invitation to become a contributor to the #CSP19 blog AND participate online in some way: write a blog post, a tweet or blog comment.
